She was nominated for an Oscar first time for her role as the wife of Stephen Hawking's character in The Theory of Everything. The biopic was based on the scientist Stephen Hawking, and Jones received a lot of praise from the public and reviewers for her flawless performance as Hawking's wife. The film was followed by Inferno which was a horror film that starred Tom Hanks.
